

Lech Krzysztof PAPRZYCKI was born in Warka on 15th April 1947. He studied law at Warsaw University, which he completed in 1970. His master's thesis was on the directives concerning the court administration of penalty as in the criminal codes of 1932 and 1969. In the years 1970 to 1972 he did his apprenticeship in the legal profession in the circuit of the Voivodship Court for Warsaw Voivodship in Warsaw. From 1972 to 1973 he worked as associate judge. From 1974 to 1976 he worked as judge at the Poviat, later the District, Court in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. From 1976 to 1980 he performed the function of judge and vice chairman of the District Court in Pruszków after which, until 1990, he functioned as Voivodship Court judge in Warsaw. Until 1st July 1990 he was lecturer at the Institute for Crime Problems in Warsaw, which he had to resign from in view of being appointed the Supreme Court justice.
In 1984 he was conferred the doctor's degree in legal sciences by Nicolaus Copernicus University of Toruń. His doctoral thesis dealt with the ban on performance of occupational activity as seen in criminal law.
He has also written many works published in Poland and abroad, among which the ones which dealt with the question of the expert psychologists' or psychiatrists' opinion as the evidence in criminal proceedings.
Prof. Dr hab. Lech Paprzycki is active member of Polish and foreign organizations, among which: the European Law Research Association, the International Commission of Jurists in Geneva, the International Penal and Penitentiary Foundation and AWEPA - European Parliamentarians for Africa.
