
 Lech GARDOCKI born 13 April 1944 in Rydzewo
In 1961 to 1966 studied at the Faculty of Law, Warsaw University and finished the studies with the degree of Master of Arts.
After studies, worked as Assistant Reader at the Chair of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law, Warsaw University. At the same time, made a free lance court apprenticeship at the Voivodship Court for Warsaw Voivodship and, in 1969, passed his judge's examination.
In 1971, having presented his doctor's thesis entitled " Crime Committed on Duty in Socialist Legislature ", awarded the degree of Doctor in Legal Art. Next employed as Reader at the Institute of Criminal Law, Warsaw University.
In 1979 awarded the degree of Doctor Habilitated in the field of criminal law, after having prepared the work "Problems of Internalization of Penal Liability for Crime Committed Abroad", for which won the first degree award in the competition organized by the " State and Law " magazine. Next, appointed Assistant Professor. In 1977 to 1981 and in 1981 to 1984 held the post of Deputy Head of the Institute of Criminal Law, Warsaw University.
In 1985 to 1995 held the Chair at the Department of Comparative Studies in Criminal Law, and since 1996 has held the Chair at the Department of Material Criminal Law.
In 1991 nominated Professor Extraordinary at Warsaw University, in 1992 awarded the academic degree of Professor in Legal Art.
On 4 July 1996 nominated Justice of the Supreme Court, Criminal Chamber.
On 17 October 1998 nominated First President of the Supreme Court.
The academic output of Professor Lech Gardocki includes over 80 publications, among which: 4 books, more than 60 articles and contributions in collective works, several glosses to decisions of the Supreme Court, and various minor publications. His published books (in addition to the above mentioned habilitation thesis), are: " An Outline of International Criminal Law " ( 1985 ), winner of the second degree award of Ministry of Education, " Problems of Theory of Criminalization " ( 1990 ), " Criminal Law " ( 1994, 1996, 1997 ), winner of an award of the Minister of Education. Among the articles, there are 11 ones announced in foreign publications. He is a member of the International Advisory Committee on "Zeitschrift für die gesamte Strafrechtswissenschaft" magazine.
